We celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary during a pandemic and a lot has happened since our 10 year anniversary post, so here’s an update.
When the kids went off to college and we had an empty nest, we sold our house and have been living on our boat since 2017. More about that here. This photo is Darlene running RCI (Relationship Coaching Institute) from our cockpit while at anchor.
We traveled up the coast from San Francisco Bay to Puget Sound in Washington in 2019 and have been full time cruisers in the Pacific Northwest since then, exploring Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands, living “on the hook” (at anchor) and using our cell phones and hot spots to operate RCI from wherever we are.
When the Coronavirus pandemic closed everything down we were limited in a few ways, such as not being able to go to restaurants or some state parks, but for the most part our routine was uninterrupted and living on a boat is a great way to maintain social distance. We could still provision at grocery stores, do our laundry in laundromats, get diesel at fuel docks, and explore this amazing part of the world. The biggest limitation for us is that Canada closed their border and we can’t explore further North than the San Juan Islands for awhile.
I live in a constant state of amazement.
It’s amazing that this woman who became so violently seasick just a few years ago now actually prefers to anchor rather than tie up to a dock or live on land.
It’s amazing that we can live together 24/7 on a boat, never more than a few feet apart, and our relationship continues to grow, evolve, and gets better and better. How is that possible? Two words- Radical Marriage
It’s amazing that we can live our dream life surrounded by natural beauty, visit awesome remote anchorages, kayak and hike to our hearts content, all while continuing to work and further our mission through RCI.
It’s amazing that just when we think our life and relationship can’t get any better, it does and continues to do so.
It’s amazing that every day we see more and more evidence that when you leave your comfort zone and take the risks necessary to step into your desired future, the Universe/Law of Attraction/God, or whatever the source may be, rewards us with an extraordinary life beyond our dreams.
Please know that we are ordinary folk, nothing special. If you saw us walking down the street you would see an older couple, probably holding hands, but would have no indication that we are any different than anyone else. This is because we are NOT different than anyone else, except for one thing and one thing only- we chose to step into our desired future. That’s it. That’s the only difference.
If we can do it, so can you!
Thanks for reading this and enjoy a few photos of our first year as full time PNW cruisers.
David
